Overby is a traditional Shetland house, tastefully and sympathetically restored. By the village of Burravoe, on the Island of Yell, Overby is set in its own well-kept grounds, leading down in front of the house to a tidal pool, private jetty wall and pebble beach.

The house offers comfortable accommodation for four, with 1 double and 1 twin bedroom on the upper floor. The bedrooms are connected by a bathroom/WC with a shower over bath. Each room offers lovely views of the voe which is directly below the house.

On the ground floor, the well-equipped, spacious kitchen has fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine (with dryer), and table and chairs for dining. A Rayburn stove keeps the house cosy during winter months. The living room is comfortably furnished with an open fire, and there is a conservatory/sun room where one can relax and enjoy the world slowly passing by outside. Additional downstairs WC and shower room.

Modern comforts include oil fired under floor heating, Freeview TV and DVD player, CD player with iPod docking station, free Broadband wifi, and a small library of books (local interest) and games.

Yell is the largest of the Shetland 'North Isles', adorned with wild peat moors, many sandy beaches and voes. Overby is only 5 miles from the ferry to the Shetland Mainland, and 20 minutes by car from the ferry terminal for Unst and Fetlar at Gutcher.

There are great walks straight from the door – around Heoga Ness, or northwards to the Horse of Burravoe passing nesting seabirds on the cliffs at Ramnageo (summer). Otters are regularly seen in the voe below the house. A short drive finds beautiful beaches at Westsandwick and Breckon.

A perfect place to escape to, relax in, and come home to after a great day out.
