Built in the 1890s as summer accommodation for fishermen salting and drying fish on the beach below, the cottage is now a cosy, comfortable base for your Shetland holiday.

The entrance porch houses a washing machine/tumble drier, and 3-drawer freezer.

The kitchen with adjacent dining area is fitted with an electric cooker (ceramic hob with grill and double oven), microwave and fridge, with cookware, crockery and utensils.

The bathroom has an electric shower over the bath and a plentiful supply of towels in the airing cupboard. Complimentary Shetland Soap products are provided.

The comfortable sitting-room has a TV, a DVD player and CD/radio, also a wide selection of Shetland-themed books and CDs to enjoy. There’s also a stove, so you can light a welcoming fire after a busy day. Hand-cut peats and kindling are supplied.

The main rooms have electric storage heaters with a fan heater and heated towel-rail in the bathroom.

The bedroom has the option of a superking bed or twin single beds, let Ruth know your preference when you book.

There is a paved/grassy area in the front of the west-facing cottage, with a bench and picnic table where you can enjoy the sunset over Sandsound Voe.

Sandsound is lovely for walks; seals and otters are regular visitors. Details of local activities are in the cottage’s information pack.
