Herrislea House is located in the heart of Shetland. An excellent central base from which to explore Shetland's islands. Situated next to Tingwall Airport, with flights to the outer islands, makes Herrislea House the perfect place to stay if you're exploring Fair Isle, Foula, Papa Stour or Skerries.

Herrislea House is only seven miles drive from the capital town Lerwick and the ancient capital of Scalloway. Situated in the hamlet of Veensgarth at the north end of the Tingwall valley and lochs. We are in Central Shetland in a ideal position for travelling to all parts in a day with a quick take off avoiding town traffic. We offer a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a pleasant, mainly agricultural area.

We aim to ensure a very warm welcome and a flexible approach for guests, from late check-ins, to all-day access, early breakfasts and a snack service.

We have 9 individually designed en-suite rooms, each one with its own décor. All rooms are non-smoking, each has good wifi access and a mini bar with the usual TV, coffee/tea, telephone. With hair dryers and irons available.

Facilities include plenty free parking. We are fully licensed and have a comfortable Front Room lounge where you can enjoy coffee, tea, drinks or have a daytime meeting. We are happy to advise on the many excellent local dining options nearby. We can also offer snacks if you require. We aim to use local products and suppliers as far as possible.

Tingwall Valley is the site of the ancient Viking Parliament or ‘Ting’, situated on a Holm in the Tingwall Loch which is also full of Brown Trout. Tingwall has its own 9-hole golf course and Shetland full golf course is a mile on the other side of the hotel. Down the valley is the ancient Scalloway Castle of Earl Patrick Stewart, who enslaved the local population to build his seat. There is a wonderful small museum next to the castle.
